The ISO7420MD is a dual-channel Digital Isolator provide galvanic isolation up to 2500VRMS for 1 minute per UL. This isolator has two isolated channels. Each isolation channel has a logic input and output buffer separated by a silicon dioxide (SiO2) insulation barrier. Used in conjunction with isolated power supplies, this device prevents noise currents on a data bus or other circuit from entering the local ground and interfering with or damaging sensitive circuitry. It has TTL input thresholds and require two supply voltages, 3.3 or 5V or any combination. All inputs are 5V tolerant when supplied from a 3.3V supply. It is specified for signalling rates up to 1Mbps. Due to their fast response time, under most cases, these devices will also transmit data with much shorter pulse widths. Designers should add external filtering to remove spurious signals with input pulse duration <20ns if desired.
Low power consumption
1Mbps Highest signalling rate
300ps Typical low skew
50kV/µs Typical transient immunity
Over 25-year isolation integrity at rated voltage
2500 VRMS Isolation for 1 minute per UL 1577
Green product and no Sb/Br
Device has limited built-in ESD protection. The leads should be shorted together or the device placed in conductive foam during storage or handling to prevent electrostatic damage to the MOS gates.
