The AC162049 universal programming module(UPM) is a handy, low cost tool to support programming of flash based microcontroller DIP packaged products using the MPLAB ICD 2 In Circuit Debugger. It can also be connected to the PICSTART Plus, allowing programming of parts previously unsupported due to pin configuration issues.
The ZIF socket will support 18, 28 and 40 pin DIP packaged devices
Seven jumpers that must be connected to the two 20 pin headers marked 1 through 40
Led 1 will illuminate whenever programming activity occurs on the board
After MPLAB IDE acknowledges programming is complete, remove power from board and unlock ZIF socket
An external 9V dc power supply must be connected to the MPLAB ICD 2 when programming with the UPM and ZIF socket must be in the locked position to program the microcontroller properly
