Description
Intel Programmable Solutions Group (“Intel PSG”, formerly Altera) is discontinuing the
following configuration device product families:
EPC standard (excluding EPC2)
EPC enhanced
EPCS
EPCQ (=< 128Mb)
The device family ordering codes are listed in Attachment 1A, 1B, 1C.
Reason for Change
Intel PSG’s current flash vendor is shutting down its production line for these product
families, without an alternative. Intel PSG will offer an alternative device from a new
vendor for EPCS 4Mb and above, and EPCQ devices up to 128Mb density. Customers
using EPCS 1Mb devices may migrate to alternative 4Mb devices. All alternative devices
will be footprint compatible with existing EPCS/Q devices. Support for alternative devices
will be included in version 17.1 of Quartus Prime.
EPCQL and EPCQ devices 256Mb and above are not included in the scope of this
Product Discontinuance. Intel PSG will continue to make available the EPCQL and EPCQ
256Mb and larger devices by building ahead 10-12 years of inventory with no changes
applied to these specific devices. Intel PSG will issue a separate advisory (ADV
notification) describing the strategy for continued support of the 256Mb and larger
EPCQL & EPCQ devices, along with a complete list of the ordering codes
